What's the book about?
For so many reasons Rose and Lissa have abandoned their home and their family at the academy and are on the run. Of course being out of practice with their academics and training they are found and brought back only to really doubt that they even belong there. It's full of social dramatics that aren't helping to their already dramatic lives. They are constantly dealing with the typical teenage behavior like gossiping and new and failing relationships. Things get out of hand when people start threats and small acts of violence. It makes Rose and Lissa wonder if they should stay or to run away again.
What did I think of the book?
I was a little disappointed in this book but I believe that was due to the amount of hype that was built up in my head about how awesome these books were. Don't get me wrong, it was a great book. I love how Richelle Mead wrote about Romanian folklore which some included a lot of the Orthodox Catholic Saints. I love when the author is able to take a subject like vampires and make it something completely her own. A lot of authors have done this but they are still very similar to one another. Richelle Mead was really able to capture individuality and creativity while also keeping it a "vampire story." I liked this book enough that I will be checking out the rest of the series. So, to anyone who enjoys a little bit of drama, some vampires, mixed with some Romanian folklore, then you will like this book!

I will be sure to write about the other books in the series. I also want to start the Georgina Kincaid series as well. As anyone read those? How do they compare to the Vampire Academy series? I'm hoping they're a little more adult. Like I said, I enjoyed this book, but I also love my gore, violence, and sex. I need my books more than PG-13. =D But at least I can say it was better than Twilight (which you cannot pay me to read again).
I give this book...
4 hearts.

I love the Vampire Academy series, especially Dimitri lol, I haven't read the Georgina series yet, but I have heard great things about it and from what I have heard it is definitely an adult series and more than Pg-13 great review!
